What better way to explore downtown than with a tour to guide you around our historic downtown? Try one of these themed tours to experience Port Washington in a new way.

  1. Historic Franklin Street Self-Guided Walking Tour – This is a self-guided, go at your own pace tour, with a digital version or a printed brochure (find at the Port Washington Historical Society, 205 N Franklin St). Look for the numbered copper insets in the sidewalk on Franklin Street to denote a historical building on the tour, and learn all about the pre-Antebellum architecture that sets Port Washington apart.
  2. Mural Walk Experience – Tour the city while finding and enjoying all the murals from the Paint on Port Mural Program. From 2023 to 2025, 13 murals will have been installed throughout downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods. Find all 13 to learn about our city through its public art!   3. Port Washington’s Shipwreck Graveyard Audio Tour – Take this self-guided audio tour along the Lake Michigan lakefront as you stroll through parks, along the Harbor Walk, and past the downtown Marina. Port Washington has a storied shipwreck history and is now the southern gateway to the Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary. Access the audio tour from your phone for $8.99.
